Moray Flying Circus Awarded Summer of Sport Funding

Funded Projects, News

We’re delighted to announce that Moray Flying Circus has been awarded funding through Moray Council’s Summer of Sport grant scheme.

The Summer of Sport fund supports clubs and organisations to provide opportunities for children and young people in Moray to get active, stay active and improve their lives. We’re incredibly grateful to Moray Council for supporting our work and helping us make our Summer Circus Camp more accessible than ever.

Thanks to this funding, we’ll be able to offer a minimum of 10 highly subsidised places at this year’s Summer Circus Camp, helping more children and young people experience the fun, confidence and creativity that circus can bring.

The funding will also allow us to:

  • Provide support with travel costs and lunch provision for families who need it.
  • Employ an additional assistant instructor throughout the camp. As well as supporting the whole group, they’ll be available to provide one-to-one support for neurodiverse participants or any child who would benefit from a little extra help.
  • Invest in disability and inclusivity training for Moray Flying Circus instructors, helping us continue to make our sessions welcoming and accessible to as many young people as possible.

Our Summer Circus Camps have become a real highlight of the school holidays, and every year we’re blown away by the enthusiasm, energy, and amazing ideas of the young people who take part.

Across five fun-packed days, participants will have the chance to try a huge range of circus skills, including trapeze, silks, hammock, spinning plates, acrobalance, juggling, clowning and flow arts such as poi and staff spinning. Alongside all the circus activities, there are plenty of games and opportunities to make new friends. The camp culminates in a spectacular showcase created by the children for family and friends.

Circus is a fantastic way to get active without it feeling like exercise. It encourages children to build strength, coordination, confidence and resilience – all whilst having fun! Whether they’re mastering their spinning plate tosses or discovering their love of trapeze, every child is encouraged to challenge themselves at their own pace in a supportive environment.

We’re thankful to Moray Council for making this possible and can’t wait to welcome another brilliant group of young people to Summer Circus Camp. The Camp will take place from 3rd to 7th August (with the showcase on the 8th) at Dyke and District Village Hall, and is now fully booked. If you’re interested in checking out the showcase, or in future camps, join our mailing list via the homepage to stay in the loop!
